TENZA finished the district heating project in Kysucké Nové Mesto ahead of schedule
At the end of July 2020 TENZA successfully completed and handed over to the client the district heating system optimization project in Kysucké Nové Mesto, Slovakia. Within a very short period of time of 15 months the company renovated the heat distribution system built of pre-insulated pipes 11.5 km in length and installed 127 compact heat exchanger stations. The work was formally handed over to the client one day before the contractually agreed deadline, however, the construction work was finished two months ahead of schedule and the remaining time was spent on preparations for the occupancy permit procedure.
The work on the project was divided into 14 phases; the major part was finished in 2019. The shorter but more complicated part which comprised the highest number of connections and crossed frequented roads in four places was completed in 2020. The entire reconstruction of the municipal heat distribution system encompassed a broad scope of work in a small but densely populated area affected by heavy traffic. Moreover, the construction work had to be interrupted for fourteen days in spring in response to the decision of the client due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Thanks to the expertise and willingness of employees of all companies and institutions involved, and especially thanks to the understanding and patience of the inhabitants who were most dramatically affected, it was possible to maintain the quality of the work and meet the deadline. The citizens of Kysucké Nové Mesto have obtained a modern heat distribution system providing improved energy efficiency and controllability and also more reliable deliveries of heat and hot water.
